What Do You Do?

What do you do when your heart disagrees with your mind?
and your mind disagrees with your feelings?
and your feelings disagree with society’s?

What do you do when you love what is wrong?
and what is wrong feels so right?
but what is right isn’t right for you?

What do you do when a limit is placed on your happiness?
and your happiness is limited by what is right?
and what is right does not make you happy?
because what is right is so wrong for you?

What do you do when your mind prevents you from sleeping?
and your heart beats so loudly that you start hyperventilating?
as you inhale and exhale hoping that the anxiety subsides?

What do you do when you keep asking questions?
and these questions have no real answers?
except for answers that tell you to do what is right?
when what is right is so wrong for you?

What do you do when you feel like you’re letting go of hope?
and the hope was hardly hope to begin with?
because the remnants of such hope only tell you to do what is right?
when what is right will never be right for you?

  1. Thanks for sharing Rody. I read this first and then listened to you reading it and got a different sense of the piece. When I read it, I placed some anger in there, but you did not read it that way, so the words held different meanings.

  2. I have to agree with Tammy. I applied angrier thoughts when I read it, than what I heard when you did. Thank you for sharing. Beautful.
