Hello. I’d like to take a moment to formally welcome you to my design portfolio. My name is Rody (pronounced 'Roddy') and visual communication has always been something that I’ve found just as important as it is interesting.
Throughout the years, computer graphics, graphic design, animation, and new media have become increasingly enthralling to me. Besides the fact that the outcome of one's efforts always seem to produce breathtaking visuals, these visuals set a precedent in the way people think. A person is no longer concocting their own representation of a piece of text because they now have the visuals provided for them. However, they are still given all freedom to formulate their own interpretation of the visual representation as they please. An example of this desire to provide meaning to words can be found in my piece entitled “Hard to Breathe.” This stop motion animation brings life to the artist’s lyrics. My intent was to provide the viewer a sense of pain & angst—the very pain and angst that can be heard in every nuance of the artist’s voice.
I have graduated with the distinction of magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Graphics & Motion Technology (formerly known as Computer Graphics & Animation) from DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital Media/CDM (formerly known as the School of Computer Science, Telecommunications, and Information Systems/CTI). I have also graduated with a Master of Arts degree in New Media Studies with distinction from DePaul’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (currently known as the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences).
During my time at DePaul, I’ve created a vast array of work ranging from traditional 2D design, 3D design, and various 2D & 3D animations, comprised of various media such as text and image with the conjunction of audio and video.
If you should have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask me. My contact information can be found within my resume.
